Ace comedian and actor, Bright Okpocha also known as Basketmouth, has compared the performance of the governor of Abia state, Ale Otti, to his predecessors.
He took to his Twitter page on Wednesday, and expressed interest in knowing how the past governors feel seeing Otti execute infrastructure projects that they neglected.
According to Basketmouth, everything the governor has done since he was sworn in last year gives the impression that Okezie Ikpeazu, Theodore Orji, and other former governors of the state are not up worthy of being Local government chairman.
The comedian who hails from Abia state, asked that citizens check on them to be sure if they are okay with what’s been happening.
He wrote; “I wonder how ALL former Governors of Abia state are feeling now seeing Dr Otti’s current performance. It’s suggesting that the former Governors’ were not even LGA chairman level. Can someone please check on them to see if they are ok? They must not take it. Okay. Bye.”
A fan @ugogezie commented; Gburugburu!! We still dey wait for that your inauguration day promise of hosting a comedy show in Abia State . I never forget o because that promise sweet me die
@basket_mouth replied; I’m going to do it this year. I promise. I’m a Lannister.
Meanwhile, in related news…
It was reported earlier that Abia state Governor, Alex Otti concluded plans to increase the salaries of the civil servants in the state workforce.
He made this known during a media parley with journalists in Umuahia, stating that he is engaging with stakeholders to improve the minimum wage of the state workers.
Otti promised that the package would be made public ”soonest”. He explained that the reason for the planned increase is in line with the realities at hand, especially the economy.
The governor also promised to clear the backlog of salaries and gratuities owed the recently retired permanent secretaries and directors while reassuring of his commitment to defray pension arrears in the state.
Otti said; “We do understand that things are a bit more difficult for the people. We are engaging with stakeholders to see how we can improve on the pay of civil servants in line with the present economic realities, where exchange rates have converged upwards and fuel subsidy has been removed and inflation is heading to 30%.
“We are already working to see how we can improve on not just the minimum wage but also across the line and announcement to that effect will be made in due course”.
